Jael Caliman is a surrealist artist who works mostly in acrylic paint. Ever since she could hold a pencil she always has been interested in art. After receiving some training in graphic design, she changed direction in her schooling and she used those skills to enhance her painting skills. Resulting in her first Solo Show in 2020.

A principal theme in her paintings is that each of her characters has no real identity it’s hidden, this is a reflection of herself as she often likes to hide from the limelight in addition the idea is unlocking the power of the viewers imagination and embark on a journey of self-reflection. Picturing themselves in the place of each character. Capturing the ethereal essence of youth, her paintings serve as a timeless reminder of the beautiful naivety that can fade with time.

As an artist, I immerse myself in the process of conceptualizing new projects, drawing inspiration from various sources like nature, emotions, and experiences. I work with different painting mediums, such as oils, acrylics, and watercolors, refining my techniques to create depth, texture, and expression in my work. When taking on custom art projects, I collaborate with clients to understand their vision and personalize artwork to match their tastes, whether it be portraits, murals, or themed pieces. I start with sketches or digital drafts to explore composition, color, and design before committing to the final piece. Throughout it all, I focus on ensuring client satisfaction while honing my artistic voice and pushing my creativity.

Within each carefully crafted piece, lies an invitation to find personal significance and embrace the beauty of interpretation. She loves using surrealism because it allow her to be “irrational,” when creating her paintings. Follow her on her ever evolving journey.
