MARCELLUS
radio reporter, news producer, dj
I have an airy vibe. As in I go with the flow and bring it when needed. A presence you know is there because it’s bringing life to the room.
My vibe is growth. As I am growing and learning everyday, I allow others around me that same room.
My vibe is honesty. For that is the only way to love in your truth.

Marcellus is a Rock Island, IL native.
During his collegiate years he studied and worked as a Radio News Reporter for WIUM Tri
States Public Radio, Television News Producer & Director for NEWS3-wuitv, Radio Station
Manager & Disc Jockey for WIUS 88.3 The Dog, and even volunteered his time reading to the
visually impaired for Tri-States Audio Information Services, before being hired on as a broadcast
assistant.
After graduating from Western IIllinois University with a degree in Broadcasting (Film, minor), he
began working professionally as a Production Assistant for less than a month before being
promoted to Morning Television Director at WHBF/Fox 18 in Rock Island, IL. Leading a
production crew through 4 hours of live programming. Marcellus also was responsible for
recording and directing the channel's daily magazine-style talk show, Living Local, working
closely with the show's producers and talent.
Following his time at WHBF/FOX18, a Nexstar owned station, continued his broadcasting career
as a Central Broadcast Operator for Nexstar in Spartanburg, SC. There he was in charge of
monitoring multiple station owned by ABC, CBS, NBC. His daily job consisted of editing station
logs, making sure programs start and end on time, & rolling commercial breaks for live programs
such as NFL games, Award shows (Oscars, Grammys, CMA’s..), and other Specials or breaking
news as needed. This job often required Marcellus and his team to be troubleshooters and the
point of contact when something was not running correctly on-air.
Though his time as a Central Broadcast Operator was educational and appreciated, Marcellus
missed the life of directing, but was not interested in returning to news, ready to challenge
himself to directing other forms of media.
Upon being offered a job as a Producer with MC22 in his hometown area of the Quad Cities.
Marcellus returned home and now works in live sports productions (High school/College
Football, Volleyball, Baseball, etc....).Assisting in hiring and leading a production crew of
students and other broadcasting professionals. This role requires driving of a production truck
and trailer. Preproduction where the team must set up and test cameras, cables, and
equipment, on-location, for whatever and whichever game we may be shooting that day. During
these live productions Marcellus is often Technical Directing, Directing, or both. Along with
sports, Marcellus has directed live concerts with the MC22 team. When not directing and
producing live television for the channels, he also produces commercials, promos, and other
shows for the channels (Inside Sports, Keeping Up in the QC). Hands on through the whole
process, from contacting potential stories, filming, to editing, to final approval before release.
This role requires knowledge of an engineer, reporter, producer, and other roles as needed for
the production of the programs (graphics, replay, audio).
In his freetime, Marcellus enjoys writing music. Considering himself more of an Emcee and
Poet.
He has experience as an actor and dancer, with a musical theater past.
